A shared love of travel led Paula and Ben to choose Italy and the incredible Hotel Belmond Caruso in Ravello as the perfect setting for their intimate wedding ceremony and reception. A former 11th-century palace perched on a cliff with incredible views across the Amalfi Coast, this hotel is most certainly one of the most exclusive luxury hotels Italy has to offer.
The wedding preparations began in the morning and the bride and groom opted to have a ‘first-look’ with their talented photographer Andrea Fabbrini. A ‘first look’ is when a bride and groom opt to see each other on the wedding day before the bride walks down the aisle. A break from tradition, it is becoming more and more popular and is an incredibly romantic concept enabling the couple to have some private time together with their photographer to capture some incredible and utterly romantic portrait shots.
Paula and Ben’s perfectly personalised wedding ceremony was held in the panoramic Wagner Gardens of Caruso and was created in close collaboration with the couple together with their incredible celebrant Carmela, talking briefly about their love story created over the last five years. Ben’s friend Adam read a poem called Wishing You selected by Ben’s sister, Megan who could not be present as Ben’s nephew Flynn had recently been born. Friend Kathleen read a wonderful poem about love by Roy Croft, chosen by the bride and groom.
Fabulous musical interludes were provided by the bride and groom’s talented friend Jeff who played the guitar and sang Better Together during the bridal procession – as a surprise for the groom – and sang and played again during the ceremony and the exit of the newlyweds.
Paula and Ben exchanged beautiful personal vows they had written to one another before exchanging rings and being declared husband and wife. Bridesmaid Jane read an extract from The Bridge Across Forever by Richard Bach as the newlyweds released balloons proclaiming ‘all you need is love’, while guitarist Jeff strummed a few lines of The Beatles’ classic tune! After which the newly-married Mr & Mrs Taylor made their exit to cheers, applause and a shower of flower petals.
Drinks and canapés followed and guests got to try out the fun ‘photo booth’ positioning their polaroid pictures on a custom made display between the branches of the trees. The wedding banquet was held in the gardens and featured an imperial table adorned with a stunning floral arrangement by Giovanni Castellano florist, perfectly complemented by personalised bottles of limoncello for all to enjoy.
The after party was held by the spectacular Infinity Pool and continued late into the evening with the cutting of the cake, drinks and dancing to a great mix of music played by the DJ.
Huge thanks to Ben and Paula for letting us share in the magic of their special day in Ravello – we enjoyed every minute!
